Rough cut of Music Video

I have uploaded our rough cut of our music video. There are gaps in the video for shots that we have yet to decide to go there. We also, at some point, need to include the 'notion of looking.' After taking these reflective thoughts into account we have decided that 're-filming' of particular shots are in order. We have set the date of Tuesday 16th, for all re-filming to be completed, and will spend time in the editing suite up until the deadline on Friday to fill the gaps and making sure there is continuity within our shots, as well as the notion of looking, and the lyrics visualised at certain points within the music video.

  1. It's a good'n. There are a few shots which last a tad too long, and a few where the lighting isn't great, but this is often unavoidable. I like it, can't wait to see the finished product!

  2. A good start - a few constructive comments:

    - The scene where the main character leaves the house is too dark and needs to be lightened if poss

    - The drugs scene needs speeding up - i would try to match the action with the music 'no's'

    - Maybe repeat the boys 'no'

    - re-shoot the opening as discussed

  3. Tyshea led her group in the planning and production of her coursework. She shows proficient levels of planning and reseacrh on her blog. She spent many hours researching artists on myspace and was very clear about the genre of music she wanted to make a video for. She and Jess organised props, locations, costumes and actors. She overcame issues with filming and technology, re-drafting storyboards and plans. Tyshea tried to distribute tasks within the group and overcame communication issues from other members by having a 'can do' attitude. She showed excellent understanding and skill when analysing 'smack my bitch up' by the prodigy.
There is evidence of proficient creative use of technical skills in the main task. There are a variety of camera angles and shot types, including over the shoulder shots and extreme closeups. Framing is not always proficient, especially towards the start of the video. The editing is precise, with quick cuts that are intime with the music bed. Meaning is apparent to the viewer and special effects have been used appropriately for the task. The selection of m-e-s is interesting, especially how the lyrics 'no, no, no' have been highlighted. Some of the shots are a little shaky, especially those that focus on the newspaper cutting and the post it note. There maybe a slight over-use of special effects towards the end of the video. There was a difference of opinion within the group regarding the production of the Subsidiary texts and so there are two examples. The DVD cover was agreed witin the group and there is evidence of profiency through the appropriate use of IT and understanding of layout and design. The picture of the eye was taken and edited by the group and is very successful. The chosen font is also appropriate.
